Artist’s Story

I was honored to be part of the Grand Canyon Star Party in 2024. This photograph is of a deceased tree just off the paved trail below the cabins at the North Rim Lodge. The tree is reaching up to hug the Big Dipper. The red light is from the telescopes at the star party. It’s portentous, considering that 12 months later all of it is gone. Remember the beautiful North Rim when you see the Big Dipper. Someday they will rebuild and we can return! And when we do, may we all wear the Big Dipper emblazoned on our jackets.
