Artist’s Story

North of White Sands National Park, a lava flow crusts the earth in jarring black. The vibrant green of lush plant life is mixed into every nook and cranny. It’s like Hawaii in New Mexico. The lava is nutrient rich, and the rain abundant enough that everything grows! The Milky Way stands out in the super dark sky, sharing the limelight with the yuccas and shrubs. I will be back in the Spring to catch the yucca in bloom. Oh boy! And I will bring my bug spray.
