Thick corral timbers hold old ranching memories. Chiricahua, AZ
As you gaze on this picture of the old Chiricahua Corral, listen … Can you hear the lingering murmurs of shuffling cattle? The bark of the coyote and the screech of the owl? Carla Meeske swore she could hear them when she was photographing the historic camp at the Chiricahua National Monument in Southern Arizona. Cast a soft eye onto the image, and you will hear them too! The old wood holds the memories and shares the essence of the early pioneer days in this rugged Southern Arizona Apache enclave.
Artist’s Story
I love old corrals almost as much as I love windmills, and the Chiricahua National Monument has both! Enjoy the star studded Northern sky in this single frame image, carefully lit to bring out the richness of the thick cedar poles and logs.
