Artist’s Story

The 2025 Bravo fire that devastated the North Rim Lodge was visible from the South Rim when I went to conical the moment. This sweet cedar stands at a turn out on the South Rim road, and it felt like a guardian, witnessing the fire, remembering the canyon as it was, and envisioning what it will be again. Cedar Berries are sacred protectors, after all.
