Three Queens sparkle in the starlight. Goblin State Park, Utah
Behold the majestic Night Queens, hoodoos crowned with starlight in this spectacular night time image of Goblin Valley State Park, Utah. Here the Night Queens are the shining lights on the hill, sandstone sentinels standing watch over a forest of small hoodoos in the Goblin Valley below. Goblin Valley State Park is truly one of a kind, a unique Utah landscape where thousands of goblin-like rock formations create one of the most otherworldly scenes in the American Southwest. Carla Meeske brings the Night Queens to life with a stunning single image capture that contrasts the red rock hoodoos with a star-filled sky. The stars pop from the thin cloud layer, making this scene incredibly beautiful. Perfect for collectors of Utah landscape photography and Southwest night sky art, this fine art print brings the magical geology of Goblin Valley into your space. Offered in two orientations: as a 2×1 panorama or a 3×2 landscape.
Artist’s Story
This night was so fun! The mist was rolling in, which is my favorite because the moisture makes the stars really pop. I started shooting at sunset and kept going through early night, when the stars were shining bright through the high clouds. This image combines that brilliant sunset light on the peaks with the best starry sky—all captured from the same spot with the same lens—to create a true time-lapse in a single frame.
