Experience the enchanting beauty of California’s desert night with this stunning moon photograph from Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. In Silver Moon Ring by Carla Meeske, a magical lunar halo created by ice crystals in the atmosphere encircles the full moon, while a stately Ocotillo cactus stands sentinel in the foreground. This rare moon ring phenomenon, captured during a peaceful spring evening in the California desert, showcases the otherworldly beauty of Anza-Borrego’s pristine night skies. Perfect as moon wall art or for collectors of Southwest desert photography, this fine art print brings the serene magic of California’s largest state park into your home. The silver lunar corona creates an ethereal glow that transforms the desert landscape into a scene of pure tranquility.
Artist’s Story
I treated myself to an off-road driving clinic in Anza Borrego in the winter of 2024. At camp the night before our adventure, the shimmering mist enclosed the moon in a romantic ring of light. I had always wanted to photograph the moon with an Ocotillo but actually it’s very hard to do. But this night was my chance, and here you have Silver Moon Ring, capturing the quiet peace of the California desert night.
