The Sierras are the apple of Cyclops arch’s eye. Alabama Hills ,CA
Marvel at the dramatic contrast between Alabama Hills’ softly worn granite and the Sierra Nevada’s rugged snow-capped peaks in this striking black and white photograph. The iconic Cyclops Arch frames the moonlit Sierras in this artistic composition, where a brilliant meteor streak adds celestial magic to the scene. This fine art landscape photograph emphasizes the geological story through monochrome treatment, uniting two distinctly different mountain ranges under the same moonlit sky. Carla Meeske combined focus stacking and star tracking to bring everything into detail from arch to distant peaks, even the unexpected meteor that makes Magical Cyclops Arch a truly once-in-a-lifetime capture. Perfect for collectors of black and white landscape photography and Alabama Hills enthusiasts, this metal print brings the timeless beauty of California’s Eastern Sierra into your space.
Artist’s Story
This image captures the definition of the softly worn Alabama Hills against the Sierras rugged Snow and Rock. In moonlight the contrast is even more intense. I chose to develop this in black and white to tie these two different scenes together. This is shot with a focus stack of the cyclops arch against the distant mountains and a tracked sky. The meteor made the moment.
