Ghost Oak

The old oak rises from lava to touch the stars. Soon enough her leaves will return, gathering the magic light to share with all the little beings connected to her roots. We are one.

Ghost Oak lives in the lava field at Sunset Crater, Arizona. I took this in April 2023, after a long night of shooting trying to get star trails around the tip of a pine tree. I was about to pack up for sleep. when I heard a soft whistle calling me – maybe a bird? I went around a dark bend and there she was, spreading her arms, saying “Look at me – I am the one you are seeking”. The image came easily. Blessed by the power of her love.
